Welcome to Woman Centered!

by Carly Goldberg on November 20, 2012

Welcome mat

You have found your way to the Woman Centered website and blog and I couldn’t be more ecstatic.  Welcome to my humble online abode, I am so glad you are here.

If you are reading this, perhaps you have found your way here because you are one of my many dear family members, friends, and/or colleagues (and I thank you dear ones for supporting me through this endeavor). Perhaps you are among the many followers on Facebook or Twitter that I love connecting with online and even more so when we actually get to connect in person ;). Or perhaps you happened to stumble upon this site or a friend or colleague suggested that you check it out, in that case, I can not wait to get to know you.

Whatever force brought you here, let me tell you that your visit is greatly appreciated.  It is because of YOU that I have worked tirelessly over the past several years to create an online and on-the-ground space simply to represent and honor the multitude of women’s voices, ideas, and spirits that make this world a better place.

It is through women like YOU that we can come together as a group, community, and world to speak our minds and make our voices heard, because as we will continue to uncover together, there is way too much silencing of our voices and experiences. Ultimately, this silence kills the human spirit and destroys the world.

With that said, I will keep this welcome short and sweet.

Look around the site; there is so much to see! Make sure to SIGN UP for the mailing list and get your FREE Woman Centered Action Plan, because there will be LOTS of exciting news and announcements about PROGRAMS, EVENTS, AND OPPORTUNITIES for you to live your best life all while creating profound change in the world!

In the comments below, please share your thoughts, question, or love (love is so healing) and I can not wait to hear from you!

I do’t have transportaion except SEPTA & have 7dollars to my name (part of his abuse is with holding money. Trying to find a job at 47yrs old & have not worked in almost 5yrs is very difficult. I am applying for financial assistance tommorow based on what spousal support has advised me, until we can get a court date for the support The abuse center knows me, but its complicated, any advise would be apprecaited. There must be others women out there in my situation???

Thank you for your bravery and honesty in reaching out for help. I will contact you directly (and as I mentioned in a previous comment, I am new to WordPress and I am sorry for the delay in responding) via email.

What is important to highlight here for others reading this and your comment is that you are not alone. Too many women (and men) suffer in silence about the interpersonal violence that they are experiencing. I wanted to make sure that I posted a few resources for others in your situation.

First and foremost, if you are in a life threatening situation, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room (this blog and others are not meant to replace mental or physical health care).

Second, here are a few hotlines you can reach out to nationally:

National Domestic Violence Hotline – 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or website http://www.thehotline.org/.

Feminist Majority Foundations DV Resources – http://www.feminist.org/911/crisis.html.
